Oct 08, 2014 12:42 AM EDT

The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants playing for the NLCS in the MLB playoffs after San Fran won over the Washington Nationals to clinch and the Cards won over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS to advance to the National League Championship Series with a victory on Tuesday.

The Cardinals won after a Matt Adams home run off Clayton Kershaw, while the Giants got it done with three runs against the Nationals and now they matchup again in the NLCS. These two teams have played before and in 2012 it was the Giants who won after being down 3-1 in the series and now they matchup again. The ALCS has the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals matching up and now two teams with experience will play for the National League.

Bryce Harper did all he could with a home run and another RBI in the game and now the Giants are through to the next round. The Giants missed the playoffs last season and they now have the chance to get into the World Series for the third time in five seasons. Kershaw took the loss in the Dodgers game and Trevor Rosenthal closed it out, while the Giants finished things off with Harper stranded on base.

The Nationals and the Angels were both the top teams in their respective leagues and now they have been knocked out by the wild card teams and the road ones at that. The second wild card teams in both leagues are now one series away from the World Series and the Orioles are left in the AL after beating the Tigers, while the Royals won over the Angels. A wild playoffs in 2014 already.
