Oct 08, 2014 09:51 PM EDT

The MLB playoffs are set and the schedule for the ALCS and NLCS starts in a couple days, with the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals opening on Friday and the St. Louis Cardinals taking on the San Francisco Giants on Saturday as the American League and National League Championship series start up to see who will play for the World Series.

The Giants and Cardinals finished off their series on Tuesday night with wins and now they advance after beating the Nationals and the Dodgers 3-1 in the NLDS. The Royals and the Orioles won over the Angels and the Tigers by sweeping the teams and now they will meet in the ALCS and they will play out to see who gets into the World Series. The Giants and the Cardinals are the last two teams to make it in the NL and that means in the National League a familiar team will be in the World Series.

The Orioles and Royals have not been to this point in decades and they are looking to get to their first World Series appearance in years. The Angels and Tigers were swept out of the playoffs and now the ALCS will start up on Friday night. The Saturday game is in the afternoon and then things shift to Kansas City for the next three games. The final two games will be from Baltimore and the American League comes into the playoffs with home field advantage in the World Series.

The NLCS starts with the Cardinals and Giants in St. Louis for two games and then things will move to San Francisco. The series will be out in the Bay Area for three games and those will be on Fox Sports 1, while the Saturday game if necessary will be on FOX before Game 7 if necessary on Sunday, October 19.
