Houston Rockets Rumors: Team Set to Offer Kevin Martin in Dwight Howard Package

Jul 13, 2012 11:57 AM EDT

The Houston Rockets are ready for change and are really looking into acquiring center Dwight Howard.

They are said to include Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris and Chandler Parsons in a package for the center. Not only that, they would also send draft picks Jeremy Lamb, Royce White and Terrence Jones, which Houston picked up in the first round of the 2012 Draft.

In return, Houston would receive Jason Richardson, Glen "Baby" Davis, Chris Duhon and possibly Hedo Turkoglu along with Howard.

The Houston Rockets are cleaning out the Magic's payroll, which would be fitting for the team after the horrible moves made by former general manager Otis Smith.

The Rockets are also looking to dump forward Luis Scola through the NBA's Amnesty Clause.

They will owe him $21 million over the course of three years.

Houston is also interested in Chicago Bulls' center Omer Asik. Though characterized as a soft player, Asik has the ability to develop into a solid center in the NBA.

They are willing to offer Asik a three-year $25 million contract.

What could drive the new Orlando Magic's GM, Rob Hennigan, to agree with this deal is the fact that the Rockets are also offering future draft picks.

We'll see what the future holds for the Rockets. The Nets recently backed off from a Howard deal after signing their center, Brook Lopez, to a four-year deal.

They stand as the front runners in the Howard Sweepstakes.
