Denver Broncos Rumors: Montee Ball Injury Has Ronnie Hillman, CJ Anderson Smart Pick Ups As Emmanuel Sanders, Julius Thomas Starters

Oct 15, 2014 08:52 AM EDT

The Denver Broncos have Montee Ball out for a few weeks with an injury and that makes Ronnie Hillman and CJ Anderson the best fantasy football options heading into Week 7, as Ball will continue to be out for Peyton Manning and this come as Julius Thomas, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are all having fantastic seasons for the Broncos and they could be huge for owners moving forward.

Ball was injured before last week and the groin injury he suffered doesn't need surgery, but according to Pro Football Talk, it may keep him off the field for multiple weeks. The report says three weeks could be the number and that's big for fantasy football owners. Hillman came in after he was injured and carried the ball as the starter and he likely will get starter carries over Anderson. Fantasy owners in deep leagues should look at Anderson, while Hillman is the better option right now until Ball returns.

Hillman had 100 yards against the Jets this weekend and Anderson should get in on the action as well next week.  Before last week the Jets gave up over 100 yards to a rookie in Branden Oliver with the Chargers and now Hillman had the chance to do it too. Ball is expected to miss three weeks and after playing the Jets the team has the 49ers and while their defense is very good, they have been giving up rushing yards and that could be big for Hillman. Anderson and Juwan Thompson are options in deeper leagues, but if owners can get Hillman, he is the best option.

The Broncos always put up points and they were able to win over the Jets. The Jets came off of a horrible game against the Chargers and they were the first team to get shutout this season and they had the tough task of matching up with Peyton Manning. On top of that, the Jets had QB issues with Geno Smith and an injury to Eric Decker, which made things even tougher on Sunday.

Ball has nearly 200 yards rushing this season and Hillman comes in after putting up 66 yards in two games this season. ESPN.com reports that Hillman will get about 55 percent of the carries on Sunday with Anderson and he should be the main start option, as he could be getting 15-20 touches against the Jets. Anderson is an option that could be used in goal line situations and that could take away some points from Hillman, but nothing major.

Emmanuel Sanders has been fantastic this season since coming over as a free agent and he is a favorite of Peyton Manning this year. Sanders is on pace for over 110 catches and he already has 32 catches for 435 yards this season and three TDs and he likely will shatter his career highs. Sanders is on pace for over 1700 yards and while he may not keep that up all season, he has the chance to be one of the league leaders and with the Jets CB situation a mess as well, he had a nice game.
