Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno is out for the season with a knee injury and now Lamar Miller is the top starter for the Dolphins and fantasy football owners and he is a strong pick up along with Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas moving forward into Week 7, as those names could get an increased amount of touches with Moreno out of the lineup.
Miller now will assume the starting role and it comes after Moreno injured his knee against the Packers on Sunday, tearing his ACL to end his season. According to Pro Football Talk, Moreno had just come back from an elbow injury and now he is done for the season after signing a one year deal in the offseason with Miami. Moreno had played in two games before returning and now he is done with 148 yards on the season and one touchdown and he heads back into free agency after the season ends. Moreno had a career year last season in Denver and he hoped to follow that up with a big year in Miami and now it has been cut short.
Moreno had been progressing well from his elbow injury and fantasy football owners were hopeful he would be healed up and ready to go for the rest of the season after missing time. Lamar Miller has continued to be the top start option at RB for the team over handcuffs Damien Williams and LaMichael James and he should be set as the starter moving forward now that Moreno is done. Moreno looked great the first week of the season, but he was sidelined right after that with a serious elbow injury.
Moreno was able to return quickly from that, but he was gone just as fast and now his future could be a major question since he is 27 years old and will be coming off of a major injury. Lamar Miller has been playing well in his absence and Moreno ends the season after opening in Week 1 with 134 yards and a TD and he will finish off with 148 yards after rushing for a career high 1039 yards last season. Miller has been performing well and he comes in after rushing for 53 yards and a TD against the Packers and he also added three catches for 40 yards.
Miller is a speedy back and he is tops on the team in touches in the games that Moreno missed and he is the best fantasy football option to use now for owners of Moreno. Miller had over 100 yards against the Chiefs in Week 3 and he has been averaging over five yards per carry this year and has also added 15 catches. Miller had three times the amount of carries that Damien Williams had with Moreno out and he has been performing like an RB1 over the past few weeks.
Thomas was the backup for Miller last season and he has only rushed the ball seven times this year and his best performance came against the Raiders in Week 4 with 35 yards. Thomas could be an option in deeper leagues, while Williams could be a pickup in deep leagues only. Miller is a prime starter moving forward and should be a top pick up and start option in Week 7.
