Kirk Cousins Rumors: DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon Fantasy Busts as Washington Redskins QB Struggles? Jay Gruden Denies Colt McCoy Starter for Quarterback

The number of people in Kirk Cousins' corner is diminishing each week. The Washington Redskins quarterback is not exactly excelling in the starting role after the injury to Robert Griffin III and there have been rumors swirling of another change at the position in the coming weeks. Cousins keeps turning the ball over and now Washington sits at 1-4 in a season they were expecting to contend. As the media wonders about the future of Cousins and the Redskins, everyone on the roster is supporting the backup.

Earlier in the week, the Washington Post reported that Colt McCoy could see his first start with the Redskins as Cousins continues to struggle with consistency. However, when presented with the idea, Head coach Jay Gruden denied a change in the lineup, expressing his confidence in change for the Redskins.

"We have to look at the guys in our plan," Gruden said, via the Washington Post. "There's a reason why we have the guys in front of them, but we'll see if there's a way we can upgrade our roster. Mainly I'm looking at maybe ways to prepare, practice, our practice schedule. I'm looking at something, you know. You have to do something a little bit different. Obviously status quo is not doing so well."

Cousins currently leads the league with eight interceptions, seven of those coming in the last three games. As Cousins struggles, so does the offense, leaving the wide receivers without much to work with. In 18 career games, Cousins has 18 touchdowns and 18 interceptions while being 0-7 as a starting quarterback. Despite the terrible stats, wide receiver Pierre Garcon, is confident Cousins can be a productive quarterback.

We have a lot of confidence in Kirk," wide receiver Pierre Garçon said, via CSNWashington.com. "Kirk is a great young player in this league. He's getting a lot of experience now. He's just taking in a lot of stuff right now, but once he gets through this, honestly, he'll be good to go. He'll learn from it, move forward and be a great quarterback in this league. I've always had a lot of confidence in Kirk, and I still do."

Washington remains supportive of the quarterback, noting it would require a complete and total meltdown before he is benched for McCoy. DeSean Jackson and Alfred Morris vow to improve as Gruden remains hopeful for the future.
