The Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings are playing live on the NBC NHL schedule on Wednesday and the matchup is on the NBC Sports Network on TV starting at 8 pm ET from Joe Louis Arena and the game is streaming from the NBCSN Live Extra website as Zdeno Chara and the B's take on Johan Franzen and the Wings in Hockeytown for an eastern conference matchup.
The Bruins were upset in the playoffs last season by the Montreal Canadiens and they did not repeat their trip to the Stanley Cup. The Rangers eventually did it and they beat Montreal after the Canadiens took care of the Bruins and now Boston is looking to make a deep run again. The team was the best in the east last season and now they have the chance to get back into things. The Bruins have been off to a tough start, while the Red Wings are playing just their third game while others have played four.
Both east teams come into this game with just two points and the Bruins got theirs in an opening win. The team has lost three and they come into the game after a loss to the Avalanche. The team then has the Montreal Canadiens next on the schedule and they are trying to get things going on offense, as they are ranked 28th in the league in goals scored per game so far this year. The Bruins won over the Flyers to open the season and now they have lost to Detroit, the Capitals and the Avalanche and they need some points here.
The Red Wings have one win and one loss this season and they are ranked 25th in the league in goals per game. The team is coming into the game after a loss to the Ducks and that was at home and after this they play against the Toronto Maple Leafs and that will be on the road in Canada. The Bruins have been picked by many to get to the finals along with the Penguins and they are hoping that this season ends up better than last year did after the Montreal upset after a tough series.
