Los Angeles Angels Trade Rumors: Interested in Zack Greinke?

The Los Angeles Angels are in the thick of the American League West race and they have interests in signing Zack Greinke.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported that, although their farm system is not so deep, the Angels possess enough young talent with major league experience to lure the Milwaukee Brewers into trading their right-handed ace.

Angel's fans do not worry by "young talent with major league experience" I am not referring to Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo.

The bait for LA would be Peter Bourjos and right-hander Garret Richards.

Bourjos is a speedy outfielder. He swiped 22 stolen bases last season and is only 25-years-old.

Richards, who is only 24-years-old, filled in for an injured Jered Weaver and has remained in the starting rotation since. In his first three major league starts he pitched 20 innings while only giving up two earned runs. He has struggled as of late giving up 15 earned runs in 15 innings pitched, but the young pitcher showed that he can perform in the big leagues.

Trading these two pieces would be a steal for the Angels, so say rival executives.

The Angels are just 5.5 games back behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West and they hold a .5 game lead in the Wild Card, tied with the Detroit Tigers.

For the Brewers, though the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals taught teams never to lose hope, they are eight games out in the National League Central. Trading Greinke and getting young players would make sense for the club.

For the Angels, trading for Greinke will help alleviate the doubts they have about Rich Harden and Ervin Santana.

Greinke has not been pitching great as of late, but he is 9-3 with a 3.57 earned runs average. He also has a 9.1 K/9 ratio.
