Mavericks Free Agency: O.J. Mayo Confirms He Will Be Signing With Dallas

Dallas continues to rebuild as they sign shooting guard O.J. Mayo to a multiyear deal on Monday, after Mayo posted a message on his verified Twitter account (@JuiceMayo32).

Mayo tweeted: "I will be signing with Dallas! #Mavsnation."

Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban confirmed the signing on his Twitter account (@mcuban).

"Welcome to the family OJ," Cuban wrote. "We are fired up!"

Mayo, 24, spent the first four seasons of his career with Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 15.2 points a game. He is set to join a radically revamped Mavs roster around Dirk Nowitzki that includes center Chris Kaman, forward Elton Brand, shooting guard Dahntay Jones and point guard Darren Collison, all added in the last five days.

The 6-foot-4 Mayo averaged 15.2 points, shot 43.3 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point range during his four-year career with the Grizzlies, who made him their third overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

The exact terms of Mayo's deal were not known, but it is a two-year deal with a player option in the second year. The Mavs had about $4 million in cap space remaining.

Mayo will become the 11th Mavs player under contract, along with three rookies. They still have interest in re-signing free agent guard Delonte West.

Dallas has restocked its roster after being unable to get point guard Deron Williams to join his hometown this offseason.

Guards Jason Kidd and Jason Terry left in free agency a year after the Mavericks won their only NBA title, and 7-foot center Brendan Haywood was designated as their amnesty player.
