The San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals are playing live on the World Series MLB playoffs schedule on Wednesday and the matchup is on the radio from ESPN streaming online, while the TV coverage from Kauffman Stadium is from FOX and Fox Sports Go online as Game 2 gets underway with the series 1-0 after SF took the first matchup and this has Jake Peavy against Yordano Ventura.
The Giants got another great start from their man Madison Bumgarner and now he has the chance to pitch again later in the series to win two games. The Giants did what their main goal was for these games and that was to split in KC. No team in sports has been hotter than the Royals and they had won eight games in a row before finally losing on Tuesday night. The team now will try and bounce back in the second game of the series and they will have Ventura on the mound, the dude who gave up all those runs in the wild card game.
Ventura can hit triple digits on the radar and that is huge for KC, as they really need to win this game with three matchups looming in San Francisco. The Giants are not worried about playing on the road at all, as they have been the road team in the wild card game and the two series after that. The Royals come in after taking down the Angles and the Orioles and now they have to find a way to stop the Giants. San Fran has won two championships in five seasons and they are getting close to winning a third after taking down the Pirates, Cardinals and Nationals in the playoffs.
The Royals and Giants each won over the best teams in their respective leagues and now two wild card teams are going at it in one of the worst World Series matchups in years. The teams are great and interesting, but based on wins, this has been a terrible playoffs and terrible WS matchup. The Giants got another win from Bumgarner and Big Game James surely did not live up to his name, as James Shields took the loss and he ended up giving up three runs in the first inning.
The Giants did not take their foot off the throttle and they had some tough moments of their own, as they had a bases loaded jam that Bumgarner was able to get out of. The Royals stadium isn't always kind to home runs, but Hunter Pence launched one out in the first inning and that was huge before the Giants eventually went up 7-1 and took the win by that score.
The matchup on Fox is from KC and the team will be looking to bounce back and they have to do it against a very tough Giants team that is playing with some real fire. Pence has been on a 24 game streak reaching base in the postseason and he has been fantastic in the playoffs, while Pablo Sandoval has been hitting .400 since the beginning of the Cardinals series and now they could go up 2-0 in the World Series with a win Wed.
