The Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants are playing on the World Series schedule on Friday night and the Game 3 matchup is live on ESPN Radio, Fox TV and the Fox Sports Go website and starts up past 8:00 pm ET from AT&T Park as Jeremy Guthrie and Tim Hudson face off with the series tied 1-1 after KC won the last matchup at Kauffman.
The Giants got another great start from Madison Bumgarner and things were going well in Game 2 with Jake Peavy on the mound, but things unraveled late for the Giants. The Royals poured it on with a home run from Omar Infante and that put them well ahead and they were able to close things out and now the team is looking to win again. There was a bit of an issue with Hunter Strickland and Sal Perez, but things are over with now and the Giants are looking to take this matchup at home.
The Giants technically can win the series at home and can stop things from going back to KC, but that is contingent on the team winning Game 3. The team has Hudson going and this will be his first World Series start and he comes in as the third oldest pitcher making his debut in the WS. Hudson had never been past the first round of the playoffs and now he is playing for the championship and he will be looking to shut down the Royals.
The next game will have Jason Vargas against Ryan Vogelsong and that is an advantage to the Giants with the way Vogelsong has pitched in the playoffs. The winners of both of the first two games put up runs and now the series shifts to San Francisco and that could be huge for the Giants. The Royals now will be without the DH and they are a team that already struggles to score. The Giants know what it's like to have the pitchers hit and while it may not affect the Royals, it is an advantage.
The Giants have won two championships in the past five seasons and the Royals are the hot upstart and they came into the World Series after winning eight straight games. Until losing Game 1 of the series, KC had not lost in this postseason and after bouncing back in Game 2, they will be looking to push things again to take the 2-1 series lead.
