The Seattle Seahawks won on Sunday against the Panthers, but there could be some turmoil in the locker room, as ESPN.com reports that the team could be looking to trade Marshawn Lynch in the future or release him after the team has "grown tired" of his act and it's likely that he will not be on the roster in 2015, following the trade of Percy Harvin last week.
According to ESPN.com writer Chris Mortensen, the Seahawks have started to get tired of Lynch after some of the things he has done off the field, including holding out for a new contract and his absence from the team visit to the White House after winning the Super Bowl. The news comes after reports that Lynch was unhappy with the Percy Harvin trade and that he has started to "contribute" to issues in the locker room regarding quarterback Russell Wilson.
Lynch has always been a bit of a character, but over the past few years it has not been an issue and since his holdout there have been a number of issues that have popped up. The Seahawks traded Harvin last week after he got into some issues off the field and the team appeared to be fed up with his act as well and now he is with the Jets. The report says that Lynch himself doesn't expect to be with the Seahawks next season and the team feels the same way. Part of that has to do with money and it comes after some very productive years with the Seahawks.
The report from ESPN writes that Lynch could have been an option at trades for teams in need of a running back but the trading deadline, but since Derrick Coleman broke his foot, it's likely off. The team has Robert Turbin and Christine Michael on the roster along with Lynch and he will continue to be the lead back as long as he is on the team.
After Harvin was traded there were reports that some of the issue had to do with Russell Wilson and how the receiver and the quarterback did not get along, but the ESPN report refutes that a bit. Mortensen writes that Wilson lobbied for the Harvin trade not to happen to the front office and that he wanted him to remain on the team. The Seahawks are now 4-3 on the season after winning over the Carolina Panthers and they have a matchup at home against the Oakland Raiders in Week 9 of the season.
Lynch has been one of the most used backs in football over the past few years and he has been over 300 carries in the past two seasons and he had 285 carries in 2011. Last season Lynch had 1257 yards and 12 touchdowns and the season before that he had 1590 yards and another 11 scores. Lynch has been in double digit touchdowns in each of the last three seasons and he has had three straight years of at least 1200 yards. Lynch has also been known to skirt talking to the media after games.
