The Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans are playing live on the NBA schedule on Tuesday night and it marks the start of the season and the opener is from Smoothie King Center starting up at 8 pm ET and has Anthony Davis leading NO into the matchup after a big summer and he is looking to take over the NBA over the next few years.
The Pelicans are coming in after winning just 34 games and Davis looks like an MVP in waiting, as he has developed in a big way and he had a huge summer. Davis is into year three now and he has the chance to be one of the best players in the NBA when it's all done with. The Pelicans will play against the Magic and then the team has the Dallas Mavericks, who open the season against the Spurs.
Last season Davis led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds per game and they were just 4-12 in the division last season. Jrue Holiday led the team in assists per game and the moves of Holiday and Tyreke Evans did not work out great for the team, but they are hoping for more this season. Davis will be the focal point for the team this season and they are getting Ryan Anderson back and they also have Omer Asik after a trade and that should make the Pelicans a formidable opponent.
The Magic come into the game after a terrible season and they won just 23 games last year and now they are looking to start fresh with Aaron Gordon and a young team coming in. The team opens with the Pelicans and then they will matchup with the Washington Wizards, who are one of the top young teams in the east this season. The Magic traded away leading scorer Arron Afflalo this offseason and they are looking for at least a little bit of progress this season.
