Rafael Nadal made the decision to pull out from the Olympics. The Spaniard said he is "not in condition" to compete in the 2012 London Games.
He won the gold medal in Beijing 2008 and will not be able to defend this title.
Nadal has been struggling with the knee injury since the French Open. He hoped he could recover from the injury in time for London, but by the looks of it, the knee is still giving him problems.
He was supposed to carry the Spaniard flag at the ceremonies. Nadal said "Carrying the flag will be something unforgettable and I hope that Spain continue on the path of success it has been on for the past few years."
Regardless of the injury he still participated in both the Roland Garros and Wimbledon tournaments earlier this year.
He won the Roland Garros, but Nadal recently finished disappointing Wimbledon performance. He was eliminated in the second round by a practical nobody.

Nada was the second best player behind Novak Djokovic, but he could not play up to expectations.
The 26-year-old has a lot of tennis left ahead of him.
