The San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals have Game 7 of the 2014 World Series on Wednesday night and the matchup from Kauffman Stadium is live on TV from the FOX channel at 8 pm ET and is streaming live online from Fox Sports Go and on the radio from ESPNRadio.com as the final matchup comes with Tim Hudson starting against Jeremy Guthrie and it's a winner take all for SF against KC.
The Giants have experience in these games, but the Royals have the momentum after their huge win in Game 6 and they also won the last matchup with these pitchers. The Giants had Madison Bumgarner pitch a shutout in Game 5 to give the team a 3-2 lead and now things are all tied up at 3-3 after the 10-0 loss on Tuesday night. The Giants usually don't allow things to carry over, but with it being Game 7 the pressure is on and they need Hudson to pitch as he is capable of.
The Royals shook up the Giants early with seven runs and now the Giants will try and do the same in this game and this will be an intense matchup. Home teams have won Game 7 over the last stretch of championships and the last nine have won those and it hasn't happened for an away team in quite a while. The Giants have won two titles in five years and now they are looking for number three and they have a very tough team against them.
The Royals have been here before, just not this group of players, as KC was down 3-2 in their series with the Cardinals 29 years ago and ended up winning the final two games at home. It will be all hands on deck for the teams and that means ace James Shields or Madison Bumgarner could enter the game at some point. Hudson and Guthrie likely will be on short leashes for their managers and that could be very interesting to see how they handle it.
The Giants had Bumgarner as their best pitcher this season and there is a good chance he comes in, as he now has a 4-0 record with a .29 ERA in his World Series career. This season he had a sub 3.00 ERA and he also had 18 wins to lead the team and he also had over 200 strikeouts this season. Bumgarner was brilliant in Game 5 and now the Giants have to fight some history to win Game seven and this should be as intense a matchup as baseball has seen in a while.
Hudson comes in as the oldest Game 7 seven starter in the history of baseball and this has been his first taste of the World Series and he would love to win it for the Giants. The team has to play in a tough stadium in Kansas City that surely will be rocking hard and after the game on Tuesday, the Giants have to find a way to put that behind them. The team was blasted early and did not come back and now they are hoping to do the same in this matchup, but based on the past, this is KC's game to lose for the matchup in a winner take all game.
