The astute Michael Laudrup added another player to Swansea City, by agreeing a deal with Rayo Vallecano for midfielder Michu.
The 26-year-old, who was linked with a move to Manchester United, completed his medical and signed a three-year deal, sealing a £2 million ($3.1 million) move.
Laudrup hailed the signing of Michu, who scored 15 goals last season, as "a bargain." He becomes Laudrup's third arrival of the summer, following the signings of Chico Flores and Jonathan de Guzman.
The Michu signing will be seen as a tremendous coup, with the midfielder's goal-tally making him La Liga's leading marksman from midfield last season.
"I'm very happy," Michu told the club's official website. "I had other offers, but I really wanted to come to Swansea because of the coach, the style of play and the Premier League.
"I've always followed the Premier League from Spain and I watched a lot of Swansea games last season. They played good football and I liked their style.
"I also know how Michael Laudrup's teams play, so I'm looking forward to being part of that. The coach was fundamental to me joining Swansea. I remember watching him as a player -- he was a machine.
"I'm a bit sad to leave Rayo because they gave me my chance in the first division in Spain. I will always be grateful to them for that.
"The supporters have also been good to me. That's why I wanted to return to Spain last night to thank them personally via a press conference this morning. I wanted to leave in a good way.
"But the chance to play in the Premier League is a fantastic opportunity for me. I believe the Premier League is a better than La Liga, so it's a chance for me to improve as a player."
Michu said he was looking forward to meeting fellow new signings Chico and De Guzman. "I know them both from playing against them in La Liga. "They are not only good players, but knowing them will also help my adaption to life over here."
Laudrup said Michu would be more than capable of replacing Gylfi Sigurdsson, who chose to join Tottenham Hotspur, over Swansea and Liverpool. "It's a fantastic signing," the Denmark legend said.
"We are talking about a player who scored 15 goals in the Spanish league last year for a small club, who were saved by the bell in the last minute of the last game to avoid relegation. He was a big difference for them with his goals.
"We lost Sigurdsson, who played in that position for half a season, so to sign a player like Michu is fantastic for us when you look at the price and quality of the player.
"It is a bargain."
"When you see the big newspapers in Spain and people commentating on how we can sign a player like that for such a small amount of money, then the Spanish economy must be really bad.
"It's a very difficult moment for clubs in Spain in general and this signing shows that."
