Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Remains Starter As Colt McCoy Option Over RG3 For Jay Gruden With More Losses?

Nov 09, 2014 09:54 AM EST

The Washington Redskins have a bye week and Robert Griffin III remains the starter at quarterback and while Jay Gruden has said that the QB situation still has questions, RG3 is prepared to start next Sunday over Colt McCoy despite the fact that McCoy had been playing well when he was replaced and the Redskins come out of the bye after a tough loss against the Vikings.

The Redskins have had another tough season so far with Gruden coming in and RG3 needs to play better for the team to start winning. There was some sniping in the media back and forth after a story by Britt McHenry was taken way too hard by the team and that caused some issues for the locker room. Gruden and Griffin dismissed any issues and once again RG3 took on the always perfect "me against the world" attitude that has served him so well since coming into the NFL.

Griffin has not been able to stay healthy in his career and that is one of the major issues that has plagued the Redskins the past few seasons. According to ESPN.com, Gruden said that the "jury is out" on the Redskins quarterback situation and while Griffin is the leader and franchise player, there is plenty of room for improvement. Gruden said that he is looking to see how Griffin works the last seven games of the season if he can stay healthy and that will lead into a tough time for the Redskins.

Griffin is a star and the team now will have to see if they want to offer Griffin a fifth year extension. The team likely will be keeping Griffin no matter what because Dan Snyder loves him, but the results have not been all that great for Griffin or the Redskins apart from his rookie season when the team made the playoffs, but of course lost in the first round.
