Arsenal are leading the chase for Spain international Santi Cazorla, according to several reports out of Spain.
Cazorla, who was a part of Spain's Euro 2012 winning squad, was a target for the Gunners, before his move to Malaga from Villarreal last summer. The 27-year-old had a good first season with Malaga, leading them to a top-four finish in La Liga, and finishing as the club's second leading scorer.
The midfielder, who made a €21 million (£16.3 million, $25.5 million) move, is open to a transfer due to the financial problems facing Malaga.
The Spanish club have not paid a portion of the players' wages, while they are yet to pay the final instalment amount to Villarreal, for Cazorla's transfer.
The playmaker is comfortable playing in the wide areas as well as through the middle and, with his proficient technical ability, will fit right into Arsenal's style of play.
"This is the big story, Malaga are not paying their players or tax to the Spanish F.A.," La Liga correspondent, Graham Hunter, told FreshFootball.
"Clubs have been aware of this for a long time. Redknapp had a big interest and Tottenham know a lot about the player.
"However Arsenal are far better placed, they are further down the road, Arsenal are ahead of every club in Europe to sign Cazorla. He'd fit in perfectly at Barcelona but if Arsenal continue pushing they will sign him."
Another playmaker being chased by Arsenal, Ganso has chosen to play down rumors linking him with a move away. The 22-year-old failed to agree on a new contract with Santos, leading to his representative suggesting his client would never play for the Brazilian club again.
That led to several clubs putting their hat in for the Brazilian's signature, with Arsenal understood to be the frontrunners.
However, Ganso wrote on Twitter he was just concentrating on playing for Brazil in the Olympics, and was not close to leaving Santos. "I heard a lot of things that were not correct," Ganso wrote. "Twitter was just a way for me to show to everyone what I was thinking and feeling.
"Today, my future is at Santos. I have a contract until 2015, and right now I am focused on winning the gold at the Olympic Games for the Selecao."
A source had earlier told ESPN of Arsenal's interest in Ganso. "Arsenal are interested, yes, but there are others. "He has a €50 million buyout clause in his contract but Santos will take less, much less - not a fee that will be prohibitive to a deal in England.
"The reason is that he doesn't have long left on his contract, two years at the most, and he is not signing a new one, so it's time to sell him.
Meanwhile, Nicklas Bendtner is close to sealing a move away from the Emirates with AC Milan and Galatasaray leading the chase for his signature.
According to reports in the British media, Bendtner is interesting Milan, who are looking for a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The striker, who spent the entire last season on loan at Sunderland, is expected to move for around £8 million ($12.4 million).
Another player expected to depart, Marouane Chamakh, is being targeted by Besiktas and Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Besiktas are looking at an initial loan spell for the striker, with a view to a permanent £4 million ($6.2 million) move. Rubin Kazan, however, are interested to seal the deal on a permanent basis.
Andrey Arshavin is expected to make a move back to his old club Zenit St Petersburg; however, the Russian club face competition, with several teams in the Middle-East keeping an eye on proceedings.
