The LA Lakers are having a tough start to the season and in the future the team may consider trade deals for Rajon Rondo, Goran Dragic or Michael Carter-Williams to give Kobe Bryant some support after Jeremy Lin has struggled and this comes as Quincy Miller is a free agent target for Los Angeles after he was waived earlier this year by the Nuggets.
The Lakers likely will try and spend money next summer and Rondo could be one of the main targets for the team. Rondo has said that he wants to stay in Boston, but there is a chance the team trades him or lets him walk into free agency. The Lakers hoped to sign Kevin Love, but he is off the market for the time being and that leaves players like Rondo and Greg Monroe as targets, while Dragic, Michael Carter-Williams and others could be trade targets.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Lakers are interesting in signing Miller, as they need some help on the bench and they also could be looking at bringing in Ater Majok. The team has the rights to Majok after he was a second round pick for the team back in 2011 and they have brought him in for a workout. The Lakers obviously need help in a ton of areas and while adding these two won't do much, it at least could help stabilize the rotation for Byron Scott.
The Lakers have been terrible and they are just 1-7 on the season and they likely will lose the next two games as well, as they are playing the Spurs and the Warriors next. Kobe Bryant has been playing well, but that could be part of the problem, as he is taking his usual amount of shots and scoring his points like he always does. Kobe knows the team is not going to be good this year and the way this season goes could set things up for next summer.
The Lakers will have money to spend next summer and they are hoping Kevin Love will hit the market, but that is not likely to happen. The Cavaliers will be interested in keeping Love long term and the Lakers may have to look at some other options. Rondo has long been considered a target for the Lakers, while Goran Dragic also could be a target. Last summer Pro Basketball Talk reported that the Lakers were interested in Dragic and that could be the way the team goes if Rondo stays in Boston or signs elsewhere.
The Lakers lost to the Pelicans and while Kobe Bryant scored 33 points and added five assists, it wasn't enough to get things done. The team is ranked 11th in points scored per game this season, but they are also 30th in the league in points allowed per game. Scott has tried to push defense on the team over the course of this season, but so far it hasn't translated onto the court. The Lakers and Clippers have pulled a flip flop in LA and now the Lakers are looking to get back to their past glory.
