According to Ken Rosenthal, Chicago Cubs right handed Ryan Dempster does not want to go to the Atlanta Braves. Being that Dempster is a 10/5 player, he has the ability to veto any trade.
Since before last nights heavy rumors of Dempster heading to the Braves, Dempster had expressed his preference of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Dodgers and Cubs had been in talks, but no accord could be reached.
Monday afternoon the Braves and Cubs entered negotiations. They had agreed to exchanging Randall Delgado for Dempster. Hours after deal had been announced, Dempster reported through twitter that nothing was official yet.
Earlier on Tuesday, on Ryan Dempster's twitter account it was posted, @RyanDempsterFDN "Nothing official to report. You will be the 1st to know. Thnx to all my fans for the support #RD46."
For the Chicago Cubs a trade with the Atlanta Braves makes more sense. They have an abundance of young pitchers with a lot of potential in the majors.
The Los Angeles Dodgers do not possess the talent in their farm system the way they do.
It is obvious that Theo Epstein is trying to get a good return for the current MLB leader in ERA, but for now, from the looks of it, a deal will not go down between the Braves and the Cubs.
The Dodgers seem to have another chance of acquiring the right hander.
The trade deadline ends on July 31st.
