After over 8 months of anticipation, Pittsburgh Steeler players will begin to report to camp today at St. Vincent's College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Players are expected in camp by 4 p.m.
Over the offseason, the Steelers made some changes. Training camp becomes important as players and coaches will begin to mesh and their chemistry will begin to show on the football field.
Todd Haley is the new offensive coordinator after losing his head coaching position in Kansas City.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin looks at these changes as an opportunity for the team to grow. He expressed these ideas in a Q&A with Bob Labriola, writer for Steelers Digest.
"I believe that discomfort every now and then is beneficial to all parties involved. Over time, change just happens," said the head coach when asked if it is necessary to "stir the pot" in order to get players' attention.
Coach Tomlin and the Steelers are facing questions that will be addressed during training camp. They have questions at the cornerback position, they have high profile rookies coming into camp that are expected to perform if they want to make the starting lineup.
When asked if he sees all these issues making the training camp especially challenging, coach Tomlin replied, "I agree that there are some challenges, but I think there are challenges in every camp."
