Spain and Germany are playing live on the international friendly schedule on Tuesday and the Euro powerhouses are meeting up at Estadio de Balaídos in Vigo and the coverage is from ESPN live and will be on ESPN3, ESPN Deportes and the WatchESPN website with a live stream online as La Roja and Die Mannschaft meet up as the last two World Cup Champions.
Both sides will be without some of the top players, including Diego Costa, who is dealing with some injury issues after playing with Chelsea. Spain comes in after a terrible run at the World Cup, while Germany won the whole thing and now the two former champs will meet up in this match. Spain still comes in as the Euro defending champs and while this is not a Euro qualifier, it basically has the feel of one and this is a good test for Spain after their performance in Brazil.
Everything fell apart for Spain in Brazil and nothing seemed to go right and now the team is starting to take form again as this four year cycle gets going. Germany has the look of a team that should be powerful for a long time and while they will not have some of their top players right now, names like Thomas Muller and Andre Schurrle are expected to be stars for the team in the next World Cup.
Spain is without Costa while he deals with an injury to his hamstring and that is happy news for Chelsea, as Costa has been one of the best players on the team this year. Costa has been one of the main reasons why Chelsea is leading the Premier League and Jose Mourinho is thrilled that he has time to relax and get better. The team also will be without midfielder Cesc Fabregas and that also makes the head coach happy, as he is another key piece of the Blues squad this year.
Fabregas and Costa could be in danger of falling out of things with Spain for this year and while that would be tough, there is plenty of time for them to get back over the next year. Spain has played well against Germany in recent matchups, as they have won the last three against them. This time the matchup will be in Spain and that gives the home team a good chance at winning.
Spain and Germany are power house teams and while Spain lost badly in the World Cup the team is still a factor for the Euros and they are a tough team to beat. Germany will not have some top players like Andre Schurrle, Marco Reus, Christoph Kramer and Jerome Boateng and they also will be without goalie Manuel Neuer and for Spain David de Gea is out.
