The US Women's Olympic Soccer team has embarked on its mission of capturing the 2012 gold medal in London as they faced off against the French soccer team.
They walked away victors 4-2.
Yeah, I know what you're wondering: "Don't the Olympics start on the 27th?" Due to scheduling, the Women's soccer tournament got a head start on the rest of the competition.

The quarterfinals will take place on Friday, August 3rd, if the US Women's team qualifies.
The semifinals take place on Monday, August 6th and the Finals will be on Thursday August 9th. The bronze game will take place at 8 a.m. EDT/1 p.m. GMT. The gold game will be played at 2:45 p.m. EDT/7:45 p.m. GMT.
In Game 1 against the France, the US Women's team fell behind early on two quick scores from Marie-Laure Delie and Gaetane Thiney.
The US then scored four unanswered goals. By halftime the score was tied 2-2. In the second half it was all U.S. as Carli Lloyd came up with a score to untie the game at the 56th minute.
Alex Morgan gave the US a two goal cushion as she added a score of her own in minute 66 of the action. She finished the match with two goals.
Amy Wambach scored the first goal for the US Women's team in the 2012 Olympics.
