Olympic Schedule 2012: Men's Football (Soccer) Begins On Thursday, Spain Faces Japan

The women's national teams faced off on Wednesday afternoon and now it is time for the men to kick things off. Soccer (or football) begins at 7 a.m. Eastern Time/12 p.m. GMT when Honduras will face Morocco on Thursday.

Then at 9:30 a.m. ET/2:30 p.m. GMT Mexico will go against Korea.

The highlight of the day will be watching World Cup and Euro Cup champion Spain match up against Japan. That match begins at 9:45 a.m. ET/2:45 p.m. GMT.

UA Emirates will follow this match and play against Uruguay at 12 p.m. ET/5 p.m. GMT.

Gabon and Switzerland lock up at 12:15 p.m./5:15 GMT, while Belarus and New Zealand kick off at 2:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. GMT.

Brazil and Egypt also play at 2:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. GMT.

The home team wraps up the action against Senegal. They will play at 3 p.m. ET/8 p.m. GMT.

In 2012 there will be a new gold medalist. Argentina was the victor in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but as seen from above, their team did not qualify for London. Nigeria came in second place to take the silver and Brazil finished in third place to take the gold.
