The Kansas Jayhawks and Rhode Island are playing in the Orlando Classic on Thanksgiving Day and the matchup is from HP Field House and will be on ESPN2 on TV and the WatchESPN website starting at 2 pm ET as the number 11 Jayhawks look to win their third game of the season.
The Jayhawks are 2-1 this season and they last won over Rider and that came after a tough defeat against the Kentucky Wildcats, who are ranked number one in the nation. Kansas has a ranked matchup with the Florida Gators and after that they will play against Georgetown and Utah. The loss against the Wildcats was by 32 points and while the team rebounded against Rider, it was an embarrassing performance for the Jayhawks and they will be looking to make that up.
The Jayhawks are one of the top teams in the Big 12 conference this season and they have West Virginia, Iowa State and Texas ranked coming into the first stretch of the season. Kansas has a tough stretch down the line with three of four games on the road against Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia and the home matchup is Baylor. Kansas is averaging 65 points per game and Rhode Island comes in at 3-0 on the season and they have won against a ranked team already this year.
Rhode Island won over Nebraska in overtime in their last game and they have another ranked matchup on the schedule in January against VCU. The team is averaging 77 points per game through three matchups this season and now they take on the Jayhawks. Perry Ellis and Brannen Greene have been leading the way for the Jayhawks this season and Ellis is the top scorer for Kansas this year.
