The Kansas Jayhawks and Tennessee Volunteers are playing on the NCAA men's college basketball schedule for the Orlando Classic on Friday and the game starts at 12 pm ET from HP Field House and the TV coverage is on ESPN and the WatchESPN website streaming online as the number 11 team hits the court.
Perry Ellis is leading the Jayhawks in scoring for the time being and the team is averaging nearly 70 points per game over the first four games. The team is now 3-1 on the season and they have lost one tough game to Kentucky and they now have ton over Rhode Island and Rider in the last two matchups. The team looked overmatched against the Wildcats and that was an early wake up call and now over the last two games Kansas has played much better, averaging 60 points allowed in the last two games.
The Jayhawks play against some solid teams coming up with Tennessee, Florida and Utah as well as Georgetown and later in the season they have ranked battles with Texas and West Virginia. Ellis comes in after leading the Jayhawks with 17 points against Rider and he will be the key for Kansas as they take on the Volunteers. The Vols come in averaging 67 points per game, while the defense is giving up 66 points per contest.
The Volunteers are 2-1 on the season and they come in after a win against Texas Southern and they play against Kansas before a matchup with the Kansas State Wildcats. The team has Butler next and after they play against NC State before matchups later with Mississippi State and Alabama. Kentucky comes in as the favorites in the SEC and they are ranked number one right now, while Florida and Arkansas are also ranked.
Josh Richardson and Armani Moore have been playing well for the Volunteers and they are leading the team in points and rebounds this season. The two players added 18 points each in the last matchup and overall the Volunteers have been playing solid defense in the second half of games, scoring eight points more than their opponents.
