The Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres are playing live on the NHL schedule and the game is from the First Niagara Center and starts up at 7 pm ET as the two eastern conference teams play the day after Thanksgiving.
The Canadiens come into the game after a 5-0 loss to the NY Rangers and they will play a home and home with the Sabres on back to back nights. The team hosts the Sabres next at the Bell Centre and they come into things at first in the Atlantic division standings. The Canadiens are considered to be one of the favorites in the east this season and they come in with a 16-6-1 record and 33 points on the year. The Sabres have been struggling and they just have six wins this season.
Montreal comes in ranked in the top half of the league in goals against and they are scoring over two goals per game this season. The team shutout the Boston Bruins earlier and that was a big win, as they are battling with them in the east and this could be a preview of things to come later in the season. Carey Price was in top form with 33 saved in that game and that is why the Canadiens have been off to such a good start.
The team did not look great in the loss to the Rangers, but New York was desperate for a win and that turned into a five goal barrage. Max Pacioretty is leading the Habs in scoring this season and they have so far delivered on their promise as one of the better teams in the NHL this season. The Sabres are down in the bottom part of the Atlantic and they come in as the 30th ranked team in goals per game.
