The South Carolina Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers are playing live on the SEC college football schedule on Saturday and the conference game is on at 12 pm ET from Memorial Stadium on ESPN and streaming online from the WatchESPN website as the rivals finish off the 2014 season.
Clemson comes into the game after a win over Georgia State and they are ranked 21 in the nation and they are 8-3 coming into this matchup. The team is hoping to finish with a win in their rivalry game and they come in ranked in the top 10 in defense with 17 points allowed per game. The ACC has Clemson at 6-2 on the season and the Gamecocks come in at 6-5 this season and 3-5 in the SEC conference. The team in scoring about 30 points per game and they have won seven of the last eight game.
The last three losses for the Tigers in this rivalry has seen the offense score less than 20 points and they need to get things going in this matchup to snap back after turning the ball over six times last year. The Tigers needed backup quarterback Cole Stoudt last week in the win against Georgia State after Deshaun Watson was injured and that was his fourth missed game of the season. Stoudt has 1576 passing yards this season and Watson has 12 touchdowns and nearly 1200 passing yards this year.
South Carolina comes into the game after a win against South Alabama and they are scoring nearly 35 points per game and allowed 30 points per game. The team is ranked 22nd in passing yards per game and they have Dylan Thompson leading with 3000 passing yards this season. Thompson passed for 237 yards against South Alabama and the Tigers have eight wins this season and are looking to finish the season on a high note.
South Carolina opened the season with a loss against Texas A&M and they won the next three games, including a game against Georgia. The team lost the next two games and four of the next five games and after that they won in overtime against Florida before the matchup last week. The team now has Clemson for the final matchup and Watson comes in for the Tigers as probable and that made the Gamecocks prepare for both quarterbacks for this game. The SEC and ACC have been tough for these teams and they are each looking to get the rivalry win to end the year.
