Olympics 2012 NBC Live Stream Men's Tennis: Watch Roger Federer In First Round at London

Jul 28, 2012 10:19 AM EDT

Roger Federer is fresh from winning a Wimbledon title at the beginning of July, but that will not stop him from repeating as a winner. Federer will play at Wimbledon as the stakes have been raised. He comes into London as a representative of Switzerland and will attempt to capture his first gold medal. He will hit centre court at 11 a.m. ET today.

The chances of victory are in his favor as Spanish tennis player, Rafael Nadal, pulled out of competition due to an aiing knee.

Now at Wimbledon, but in Olympic competition, Federer will once again have to get passed Novak Djokovic and hometown Wimbledon 2012 semi-hero, Andy Murray.

If there is a tennis award out there Federer has it somewhere in a montage in his house. The only piece of jewelry escaping his grasp is a gold medal from the Olympics.

At least in Men's Singles tournament. Like Serena Williams, Federer has had success in the past in doubles competition, but never in singles.

Together with  Stan Wawrinka, they conquered the world in 2008 as a duo.

You have to admire Federer's confidence and frame of mind. He recently said that there is no pressure in capturing gold in a singles' tournament because he already has Olympic gold from a doubles tournament.

"I always thought when I played the Olympics at Wimbledon I would feel incredible pressure, but thinking about it I don't have much pressure because I already have a gold medal," Federer told reporters.

"I know it was the doubles and not the singles, but nobody can take that away from me and Stan (Wawrinka).

This spells out trouble for competitors if Federer plays a cool and relaxed game on the court. With no mental pressure on Federer he should do an excellent job out on the court.

He was already floating around the field during the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament. It should be a spectacle watching Federer play in Wimbledon now.
