Southampton and Manchester City are playing on the Barclays English Premier League schedule and the game at St Mary's Stadium is live on the NBC Sports Network and streaming online from the NBCSN Live Extra website as Yaya Toure and company try and get a win on the EPL table and it starts up at 8:30 am ET.
Man City comes in at third in the standings on the EPL table after the weekend games on Saturday and the Citizens will get a boost, as they have Yaya Toure and Fernandinho coming back after missing the game for the Champions League with suspensions. Man City will be without Edin Dzeko and that is a hit and David Silva continues to be out and Southampton comes in after a draw with Aston Villa and they will be without Steven Davis in the game. Southampton has played well to start the season but they have to prove it against the top teams, as they play Man City, Arsenal and Manchester United coming up.
Man City has not been as dominant as last season and now they have the chance to try and get on a roll heading into 2015. The team has not won away at Southampton in some time and the Citizens have pulled two draws and a loss in the last three chances. Southampton has had their best start in the EPL with 26 points in 12 matches and they have won eight of the last 10 games in the league. The team has not lost at home this season and that makes this even tougher for Man City as they look to get another win.
City has only gotten one point in their last two away games and coming in at just two points back of Southampton makes this game ever more crucial. The Blues have a lead over Southampton and Man City, while Man United and West Ham are in the top five in the standings. Man City has not been scoring like last season and coming in Southampton has only conceded six goals and that has been very impressive to start.
Chelsea continues to lead the league table and now Manchester City is looking to get some points to stay in the mix up top and they are hoping to get back into top form moving forward. Man City has been up and down this season and yet they remain in the top part of the EPL and now as the December schedule gets closer they will have the chance to make a big move. Teams play a number of games through the holiday season and that gives Chelsea the chance to pad their lead, while Man City hopes to eat into it.
Man City comes in after a win against Swansea City at home and they also pulled a draw with QPR after a win against Man United. The team now has Roma on the UCL schedule and they also have Leicester City and Crystal Palace ahead of West Brom and Burnley.
