Millenium Stadium hosted a 1-0 match on Saturday afternoon in London. Brazil and New Zealand locked up for a tight match that finished with Brazil as the victor.
The goal came at the 86th minute when Christiane found an empty net. Her kick soared over all the players and floated in for the score. New Zealand's goalie, Jenny Bindon had vacated her spot.
New Zealand defenders made an attempt to prevent the goal from landing, but the ball hit off of a New Zealand defender's head and went straight up up into the net.
Brazil played aggressive soccer throughout the game and got off more shots on goal.
New Zealand attempted to increase their defensive effort, but it was to no avail. Brazil had possession of the ball for a good a greater portion of the match. 57 percent to be exact.
New Zealand currently does not control their own destiny as Great Britain will square up against Cameroon later in the day. With a win, Great Britain could completely sink New Zealands chances of moving on to the quarterfinals.
On Tuesday, July 31st Brazil will go head-to-head against the home team as they will face Great Britain. Both squads are the favorite to walk out alive from the first round.
Cameroon and New Zealand will lock up the same day in what looks to be the battle for last place in Group E.
Brazil sits at the top of Group E with a 2-0 record and 6 points.
