The Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings are playing on the Sunday NHL schedule as the lone hockey game and the matchup from Joe Louis Arena starts at 2 pm ET and has the first place team in the Pacific division coming in and they have been hot as of late.
The Canucks come in with 33 points on the season and a 16-6-1 record and they have been very impressive to open things up and they are in the middle of a road trip. The team comes in after a 5-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road and they will play against the Red Wings next before a road game with the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center on Tuesday. The Canucks come into the game at fourth in the league in scoring this season with three goals per game and they are ranked fifth in the league in penalty kill percentage so far.
The team has gotten some strong play from Ryan Miller and they now are looking for another win against the Red Wings, who have also been solid with 31 points this season. The Red Wings come in after a shootout win against the Devils and they next will play against the Florida Panthers. The team is third in the Atlantic division and they have 13 wins and are ranked in the top 10 in scoring and goals against this year.
