The Chelsea Blues and Tottenham Hotspur are playing on the English Premier League schedule on Wednesday and the Spurs are visiting Stamford Bridge for the EPL game and the match is on the NBC Sports Network and streaming from the NBCSN Live Extra website as Jose Mourinho leads his first place club without star Diego Costa.
Costa has been one of the key players for the team this season and he has been one of the reasons why they are in first place. The team has not lost a game this year and they have received a point in every matchup this season and now they are looking to head into the December and New Years schedule strong. The Blues have been the most consistent team in the EPL this season and after the way last year ended, Mourinho will be looking for a strong performance in the second half.
Chelsea is leading the league in points and they have also scored the most goals to give them the best differential in the EPL. Costa will be out for the match on Tuesday after getting another yellow card and now Loic Remy or Didier Drogba will be starting up front. Chelsea has not lost in any competitions this season and they have won 15 games and have five draws on the season. The last six times the teams have played things have gone to a draw four times and Chelsea comes in after clean draw with Sunderland away.
Emmanuel Adebayor will possibly miss the match and Tottenham defender Kyle Naughton is back after missing two games. Tottenham has the chance to pull the upset and the way Chelsea is playing right now that would be a major surprise for the season. Chelsea was held scoreless in their last game for the first time since May and that could be a sign of things to come, although that was an away match. The Spurs haven't won at Stamford for quite some time and it has never happened in the Premier League.
The two teams will also play again in less than a month, meeting this time at White Hart Lane, where the Spurs have not been able to hold things together on a consistent basis this season. Chelsea hosts the game at Stamford Bridge in London and then the teams will play on Thursday January 1 for the New Years Day schedule of games.
Chelsea has a busy schedule like everyone else coming up and they will play against Tottenham and Newcastle away on the schedule next. The team also has Champions League play coming up and they have Sporting CP before matchups with Hull City, Stoke City and West Ham, while Southampton comes up before the Spurs matchup on New Years. Chelsea is trying to stay undefeated for the season and they have the chance to get another win.
