The Williams sisters played great tennis today individually as they advanced further into London 2012 Olympic competition. Now, they will team up and play against Sorana Cirstea and Simona Halep of Romania.
They will defend their 2008 Beijing gold medal against the 22 year old Cristea and 20 year old Halep.
It will be youth versus veterans. David versus Goliath.
Cirstea was only 6 years of age and Halep was 5 when Venus made her debut in Grand Slam tournaments in 1997.
Their matchup will commence right after the match between German Philipp Petzchner and Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia wraps up.
These two gentlemen are playing in a great tennis match. Petzschne took the first set 6-3 and Tipsarevic battled back in the second set and won it.
The ladies will then take over Court 2 at Wimbledon. The Williams Sisters should be able to continue their reign as gold medal defenders. 2004 is not too long ago for the Williams Sisters to forget losing in the first round of the Athens Olympics to China's Ting Li and Tiantian Sun. They were also the defending gold medalist in the 2000 Sydney Games.
