The NY Giants are stuck in a losing streak and with the season going down the drain, the job security of Tom Coughlin has been up in the air and he could be fired this season if New York doesn't snap out of it down the stretch, which means players like Eli Manning, Odell Beckham, Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams will have to step up.
Manning has had a rebound season compared to last year, while Beckham has emerged as a star, but the Giants have dealt with a ton of injuries and have not been able to play consistently. The Giants lost to the Jaguars after going up 21-0 in the game and they have not been able to play well enough on offense or defense in any game to win over the past two months. The team has now had six game losing streaks in back to back seasons and now the Jaguars loss could be it for Coughlin.
The Giants organization usually doesn't answer to headlines or impulses, but after the way this season has gone, there is a chance John Mara and Steve Tisch could make a change. The Giants have dealt with a huge amount of injuries this season and they just placed five more players on IR, which already included Cruz. The Daily News reports that the Giants could consider making a change after the season, but nothing has been confirmed as to what the organization is planning.
Beckham has been excellent while playing in eight games, as he has 48 catches for 699 yards and five touchdowns. Beckham made the play of the year in the loss to the Cowboys and now he has shown that there is some hope on the horizon for Giants fans. Next season the Ben McAdoo offense will be in year two and Manning should have both Cruz and Beckham on the field at the same time.
The Giants are in the double digits of putting players on injured reserve and they are one of the leaders with the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks. While both of those teams ate in playoff contention and show that even those team also deal with injuries, the Giants main issues is the position those players on IR come from. Numerous key players have been injured and that has forced the team to shuffle the offensive line and defense.
The Giants are 3-9 on the season and in last place with the Washington Redskins in the NFC East.
