Missy Franklin and Matt Grevers captured gold on Monday evening in London as they finished in first place in their respective races.
Missy Franklin swam in the Women's 100m Backstroke. The 17-year-old broke the American Record after completing the race in 58.33. She beat out Australia's Emily Seebohm by 0.35 seconds and Japan's Aya Terakawa came in third setting an Asia Record with a 58.83 swim.
Matt Grevers also dominated in the 100m Backstroke and broke an Olympic Record with his first place finish. He complete the race in 52.16, 0.76 seconds ahead of fellow teammate Nick Thoman. Right Behind Thoman was Japan's Ryosuke Irie.
France's Yannick Angel finished first in the Men's 200m Freestyle followed by the Republic of Korea's Taehwan Park and Yang Sun of China.
Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania won gold in the Women's 100m Breaststroke. Rebecca Soni captured the silver and Satomi Suzuki captured the bronze.
