Newcastle United and Chelsea are playing live on the English Premier League schedule on Saturday and the match from St. James' Park starts at 7:45 am ET and the game will be on TV from the NBC Sports Network and will stream on the NBCSN Live Extra website as Jose Mourinho and Diego Costa lead the Blues in as the top team in the EPL this season.
Chelsea has been the top Premier League team all season and now they head into the busy December schedule with the chance to push things at the top. Diego Costa Cesc Fabregas have been huge for the team and the issues they had last year have been rectified up front. The team is scoring in bunches and they are the top team overall and have yet to lose a match and now they play against Newcastle. The team knows that other clubs will try and use this month to catch up to the Blues, which is why they are preparing for each game knowing they will get the best from everyone.
Mourinho said that he is very happy with the preparation of his team and that he thinks that no matter the opponent, they are ready to win. Costa was out for a match but he now returns and that is big for the tea, while Gary Cahill is back after a concussion. Mike Williamson, Daryl Janmaat and Sammy Ameobi are all questionable for Newcastle and they will need everyone available to try and pull the upset here.
Chelsea comes into the game after a win against Tottenham and that was a 3-0 drubbing at Stamford Bridge and before that they pulled a draw away against Sunderland. Before that they won against West Brom earlier in the month and before that they won away against Liverpool and now they have some tough matchups coming. Chelsea has a number of games this month with Sporting in the Champions League and then they will play against Stoke City and Hull City in back to back games.
The team has some tough games in January as well, as they play against Southampton in a top four matchup and then they have Tottenham and Newcastle. The team also plays Swansea City and now they have a chance to make a point this week, as the team has not won at James before, drawing twice and losing twice. Newcastle plays very well at home and they are unbeaten in five matches after losing to Man City and they have allowed just three goals in the last seven matches in the EPL.
Chelsea is leading the league by six points and they have 11 wins on the season and zero losses. The team has scored the most goals and they have the top goal differential in the EPL this season and it doesn't look like anyone can stop them right now.
