Penn State Sanctions: Transfer Rumors Subject Anthony Fera Attends Rally in State College

Anthony Fera is still making up his mind.

The Penn State kicker - a subject of transfer rumors in the wake of last week's NCAA sanctions against the Nittany Lions football program - was in attendance on Tuesday morning at a "Rise and Rally" event in State College, staged to support the Penn State players who are remaining with the PSU program despite the NCAA's sanctions, which include a four-year bowl game ban and loss of scholarships.

Under the terms of the sanctions, the NCAA has offered current and incoming Penn State players the opportunity to transfer to other schools with immediate eligibility. Reshirt freshman safety Tim Buckley became the first to avail himself of that option on Monday, going home to Raleigh to play for North Carolina State, and running back Silas Redd is expected to meet with head coach Bill O'Brien on Tuesday after a weekend visit to USC.

Fera went home to Cypress, Texas over the weekend and was expected to make the 2.5-hour drive to Austin to investigate the possibility of a transfer to Texas, which is lacking experience at both kicker and punter. Fera, who was an All-Big Ten selection at punter season while also making 14 of 17 field goal attempts , would certainly shore up the Longhorns' special teams, but as of Tuesday, he had yet to make a decision, according to a Twitter report from Ben Jones, who covers Penn State football and basketball for StateCollege.com.

"Contrary to some internet chatter," Jones posted to his account (@Ben_Jones88), "Penn State kicker Anthony Fera was in attendance this morning and has not committed to Texas.

Fera has personal ties to both schools. An uncle and three aunts attended Penn State, while his two older sisters both graduated from Texas.
