Venus and Serena Williams will once again defend their Women's Doubles gold medal on Tuesday as they face the German sensations Angelique Kerber and Sabine Lisicki.
Sabine Lisicki is coming off a fresh win in the Women's Singles against Kazahstan's Yaroslava Shvedova. It took her all three sets to get the victory as the German had to come back after losing the first set. The match finished 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Venus Williams also had a match early on Tuesday morning, but she did not have as much trouble getting by her opponent. She defeated Aleksandra Wozniak, of Canada in two straight sets.
Throughout the match, fans tried cheering Wozniak on, but it was to no avail. Williams overpowered the Canadian 6-1, 6-3.
Kerber also had a match earlier today against Hungarian Timea Babos. Kerber won the match 6-1, 6-1.
Serena Williams was the only tennis player without singles action today.
After Tuesday's matchup, Venus Williams will meet Angelique Kerber in the third round of Women's Singles action. Depending on the winner of this match, one of the tennis players can seek personal revenge on the other.
The second round match in the Women's Doubles kicks off at 2:15 p.m.
