Kansas comes into the game after a win against Florida and now the Gators are unranked and the team will next play number 13 Utah on the schedule. Kansas comes in averaging 69 points per game and they have not been all that impressive stat wise, but the team is 6-1 on the season and now has the chance to keep this roll going. The team was embarrassed scoring 40 points in the loss to Kentucky and since that game they are undefeated, winning five in a row.
One of those wins was against number 20 Michigan State and now the team has the chance to get on a roll with Utah coming up. The team has some tough games in the Big 12 this season, as there are a number of ranked teams in that mix, including Oklahoma and Texas. The conference also has Iowa State and West Virginia as ranked teams and to end the season the Jayhawks have to face three ranked teams in a row with the Longhorns, Mountaineers and Sooners to end things.
The Jayhawks made a comeback against the Gators after being down 15 at halftime and that kind of performance can carry over and that is what Kansas is hoping. The team has the chance to be one of the best in the conference this season and it looks like they have put that tough performance against Kentucky behind them. Perry Ellis is leading the Jayhawks in scoring and rebounding this season and he is the main key to the team having a sustained run in the tournament.
The Hoyas come into the game at 5-2 on the season and they last won against Towson and will next play against Radford. The team is 4-0 at home and they are ranked in the top 20 in field goal percentage this season. The team is averaging 72 points per game and they have a few ranked teams from the Big East this year, as they will battle Butler as well as Villanova and St. John's. The team won in overtime against Florida but lost close to Wisconsin and now they have a top 10 matchup with Kansas coming up before playing the Big East schedule later down the line.
