The Portland Trail Blazers and Chicago Bulls are playing on the ESPN NBA schedule on Friday night and the game is live at 7 pm ET on the WatchESPN website online from the United Center as Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol host LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard in a matchup of top teams in the east and west as part of a doubleheader.
The Blazers have been one of the best teams in the league and it comes after they won in the first round of the playoffs last season in an upset of the Rockets. The team hadn't won a playoff series in years and now they are in position to make a sustained run this season. The team comes in after a loss against the Wolves and they will continue on the road against the Pacers after playing against the Bulls in Chicago as they head east.
Damian Lillard is a budding superstar and he had 23 points in the game, while LaMarcus Aldridge had nine rebounds to lead the team. The Blazers are 17-5 this season and leading the northwest division and they could be the team that wins it with the way they have played. The Thunder have a ton of catching up to do with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook coming back from injuries and they could be the biggest threat for the team this season.
The Blazers come in ranked in the top half of the league in all major categories, including 12th in scoring and fifth in points allowed per game. The team is ranked first in rebounds per game and seventh in assists and they have been as good as anyone in the league to start the season and now they face one of the favorites in the east in the Bulls. The Bulls come in after a win against the Nets and that game saw Derrick Rose scored 23 points and Gasol snag 16 rebounds to lead the way.
The team has a matchup with the Miami Heat after the game against the Blazers and they come in averaging 102 points per game. The defense has not been as good as last season, ranking 14th in points allowed per game, but they are scoring way more after being last in the league in scoring average on offense last season. The team is also ranked in the top 10 in assists and rebounds per game and they have been getting by with various injuries at times to Rose, Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah.
This could be a potential finals preview and while that may not happen, both of these teams expect to be in the playoffs and they could be there at the end in each conference as the finals in the east and west go down.
