The LA Lakers and San Antonio Spurs are playing on the NBA schedule on Friday night and the game is on TV from ESPN and streaming on the WatchESPN website online past 9:30 pm ET as Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan matchup as Los Angeles plays the defending champs from the AT&T Center in Texas.
The Lakers come in after a close win against the Sacramento Kings and they now will play the Spurs before a matchup with the Timberwolves. The Lakers are 6-16 this season and fifth in the Pacific division, while the San Antonio Spurs are the opposite at 16-6 and looking like a contender once again. The Lakers are averaging 102 points per game this season to rank 11th in the league, but they are last in defense while averaging 110 points allowed per game.
The Spurs come into the game after a win against the Knicks at home and they now have the Lakers before a road matchup with the Nuggets. The team is ranked second in the league in points allowed and 14th in scoring and they are in the top 10 in assists per game. The Spurs are third in the southwest division with the strong starts by the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies, but they are close in the standings.
Kobe is leading the Lakers in scoring and assists per game, while Tony Parker has the same distinction for the Spurs this season. Bryant was back at practice for the first time in a month and some of his intense calling out of teammates was reported on and Kobe said it was all in playing basketball and part of the game. The Spurs and Lakers used to be a prime matchup and now the Spurs are the only good team in this mix and they come in after Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard sat out on Wednesday in the win over the Knicks.
The Lakers have lost three of the past four games and they lost three in a row before winning over the Kings and now they have two on the road. The team has the Wolves and then the Pacers before a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
