The NY Rangers and Edmonton Oilers are playing live on the NHL schedule on Sunday night and the matchup is from Rexall Place starting at 9:30 pm ET as New York continues their Canadian tour and after winning over the Canucks in Vancouver, they will play Calgary in Canada next as they head back east with Rick Nash and Henrik Lundqvist leading the way.
The Rangers come into the game fourth in the Metro division and they are looking to get into a groove and they played for the first time in nearly a week on Saturday. The team won over the Canucks 5-1 and now they play against one of the worst teams in the league in the Oilers before a matchup with the Flames. The team is 13-10-4 this season and they have 30 points and the Oilers have just 19 points this season. The Rangers come in at fifth in the league in scoring and that has been one of the biggest issues for the team in the past.
If Lundqvist can get back into his usual form, the Rangers should have a good chance at making a run this season. The team ended up in the Stanley Cup finals last season and lost to the Kings and now they are looking to emerge as a playoff team in the east, which is shaping up to very tough once again. The team is averaging three goals per game and they are also ranked 17th in goals against and 24th in power play percentage this season.
Mats Zuccarello had two goals in the game against the Rangers and Nash had two assists and he has been one of the league leaders in scoring. The Oilers come into the game after a 4-2 loss against the Anaheim Ducks and they are playing against the Coyotes on the road next. The team is ranked near the bottom of the league in nearly all major categories and they will be looking to upset the Rangers at home. NY could use a win here after getting the victory against the Canucks, as they have lost some close games this weekend against bad teams and could use a big performance here against a team that is struggling on all levels.
