Andy Murray has qualified for the Men's Singles semifinals after defeating Marcos Baghdatis in the third round of action on Wednesday. After losing the first set 4-6, he took the second and third sets 6-1, 6-4.
Murray battled back after losing the first set. For a few moments, he had the crowd anxious as he trailed in a lot of the first games.
Andy Murray struggled early in the match as he fell behind 2-0 in the first set against Baghdatis.
He followed with victories in two straight games to tie the first set at two.
Fell behind 30-15 after unforced error. He then picked up an ace to tie the third game 30-30. He won the next two points and took a 3-2 lead in the first set.
Baghdatis rallied back and won the following three games to take a 5-3 lead in the first set.
In the eighth game, a mixture of Baghdatis and Murray errors forced a tie breaker that Baghdatis eventually won.
The crowd tried cheering Murray on every time he fell behind, and it was good enough to prevent the Scot from losing the first set as he placed balls in uncomfortable spots for the Cyprus native. He rallied back from 15-40 to push the first set to 5-4.
Baghdatis took the first set 6-4.
Murray shut out Baghdatis in the first game as he did not allow him to gain a point. Taking the first game 1-0.
He quickly took a 4-1 lead in the second set and showed signs of his old self and went on to win the set 6-1.
The third round was a bit more competitive.
Murray jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Baghdatis made it close as the set was 3-2, but with two sets in the sixth game, Murray regained his two game advantage.
Baghdatis did not quit and took Murray all the way to a tenth game. He had the 30-15 advantage over Murray as the Scot was serving. After two missed backhands the game went to 40-30. Andy Murray then put it away with a heavy forehand.
