Aug 01, 2012 02:14 PM EDT

Wow. First upset of the 2012 Olympic Tennis matches. The defending gold medalists from Switzerland, Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka were eliminated from Men's Doubles as they lost in three sets to Andy Ram and Jonatha Erlich 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 and could not advance to the quarterfinals.

At first it seemed like a regular match for the Swiss. They won the first set in 28 minutes 6-1. They ran into trouble in the second send despite taking the 1-0 lead.

They could not close out the second set as the Isaraelis matched them point for point until the last game when they won it 7(7)- 6(5).

In the second set, Ram and Enrich ran away with the victory as they took a quick 4-1 lead in the third and fina set.

The Swiss came two games close of tying as they rallied back to make it a 5-3 set, but the Israelis put them out of commission winning the final game and eliminating the defending Men's Doubles gold medalists.

Roger Federer at least has hopes of capturing gold in the 2012 Olympics. He advanced to the quarterfinals earlier on Wednesday morning after defeating Denis Istomin.

Now, the Israelis get ready to play against the top seeded duo in the Men's Doubles, Americans Mike Bryan and Bob Ryan in the quarterfinals of the event.
