Olympic Tennis Quarterfinals 2012 Schedule and Time: Federer vs Isner, Djokovic vs Tsonga On Thursday

Aug 01, 2012 11:24 PM EDT

The quarterfinal bracket is set for the Men's and they will take Centre Court tomorrow. Roger Federer vs. John Isner and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs. Novak Djokovic will attempt to advance and qualify for the Men's semifinals.

The action, however, kicks off from Court No. 1 tomorrow at 7 a.m. ET/12 p.m. GMT with Andy Murray vs. Nicolas Almagro.

At 9 a.m. ET/2 p.m. GMT Tsonga taking on Djokovic. This time is an approximation as they will go onto Centre Court following the match between Victoria Azarenka and Angelique Kerber.

Tsonga and Djokovic could serve as the match of the day. No offense to John Isner, but a match between the 2nd and 5th ranked players is more intersting that the tenth best player against number one.

Two days ago, Tsonga made Olympic history after partaking in the longest singles matchup.  Tsonga defeated Canadian Milos Raonic 6-3, 2-6, 25-23, with the last set alone lasting three hours, another Olympic record.

"At the end I was just very happy for my country," Tsonga said. "I did it for them, and that's it."

On Wednesday he played a regular match of tennis defeating Thomaz Bellucci in three sets 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Nobody said it was easier, but at least the last set did not end after 48 games.

Djokovic experienced a tough matchup on Wednesday too. Australian Lleyton Hewitt challenged the Serbian and took the first set 6-7. Djokovic rallied back in the final sets to advance to the semis 6-2, 6-2.

Following the Tsonga and Djokovic match, Roger Federer will take Centre Court against American John Isner. For those unfamiliar with Isner, he is 27-years-old. Though not successful in Grand Slam tournaments, Isner is ranked 11th in the world and is one of only three Americans ranked in the Top 20 (Roddick-14 , Fish -8).

Isner has had some issues in the first set of his matches. He went to tiebreakers in the first three sets of each match. In his first match he won the set 7-5 and the second and third matches he won the first set 7-6.

Look for Rodger Federer to take advantage of this as he will look to capture gold. Federer is only three wins away from winning his first gold medal as in the Olympic Men's Singles.

Federer and Isner will take Centre Court following the Tsonga vs. Djokovic match. Hopefully Tsonga is able to wrap that one up in less than five hours. Approximate time for Federer is 11 a.m. ET/4 p.m. GMT.

Japanese Kei Nishikori will also take the court at around 11 a.m./4 p.m. GMT as he faces Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro.
