Green Bay Packers Rumors: Randall Cobb Contract Denied Despite Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson Support? Free Agency Likely with BJ Raji, Jarrett Boykin in 2015

The Green Bay Packers have one of the best wide receiver duos in the league between Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson. They are both playing a huge part in the amount of success Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are having this season as they continue to look like Super Bowl contenders. The contract extension for Nelson is certainly paying off and Cobb is hoping his numbers do the same. However, so far has yet to be approached about a new contract.

Cobb is preparing to enter free agency this offseason and will be aiming to get a new deal. The Packers focused on Nelson last season inking him a nice new contract, but have not talked to Cobb about remaining with the team long-term. When asked about his next contract, Cobb simply shrugged saying it is what it is.

"It is what it is. That's a question for you. Am I? I don't know. I'm trying to be the best Randall I can be. I don't know what that means, but I'm trying to be the best I can be. I'll let everybody else decide what," Cobb said, via ProFootballTalk.com.

Cobb has become one of Rodgers' favorite targets. The wide receiver has 1,076 yards and 10 touchdowns through 14 games while preparing to break franchise records with Nelson as the best receiving duo since Greg Jennings was on the roster. Rodgers went on his radio show earlier in the week to say that it was "very important" for Green Bay to get a contract extension finalized with Cobb before he is able to walk away to another team handing out more money.

The Packers signed Nelson to a four-year, $39 million deal. Many believe Cobb could sign a contract similar to what Victor Cruz inked with the New York Giants which was a five-year, $43 million deal. Cobb continues to say that he loves the Packers organization and naturally wants to stay where he is. He has no expectations of how long the process of a new contract will take, but right now he is merely focused on getting to the playoffs and beyond.

"To be able to do it, I'm very honored and blessed and very thankful to have the opportunity to play for a great organization. To be able to have that, obviously being a kid coming from where I come from, we don't get these opportunities to play in the NFL or to even have that chance. Being able to reach a level like that, it really is something special," Cobb said.
