Andy Murray defeated Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in two straight sets in the quarterfinals of the Men's Singles' at the 2012 London Olympics. Murray won 6-4, 6-1.

Aided by an injury to Almagro and his overpowering aces, Murray was able to cruise to victory. He finished the match with 15 total aces.

In the first set, Murray fell behind Almagro 1-2. After winning three straight games he took the dominant 4-2 lead.

He captured his fifth game on four straight aces and eventually captured the first set to take a 1-0 lead. He had nine aces at the end of the first set.

Fans continued their support of Murray, starting their usual "Andy!" cheers.

A trainer was called to the court after the first set as Almagro continued massaging his right shoulder.

In the meantime, fans waiting for the action to commence began the wave. Prince Williams and his wife Kate also participated in the wave.

In the first point it was obvious that Almagro's shoulder was still bothering him. Both his backhand and forearm were off target. Murray won four straight points to take the first game of the second set.

Almagro pulled a Amar'e Stoudemire in the second game of the first set. Rather than punching a fire extinguisher, he punched his racket to the floor.

Almagro won the third game to get back into the set. Murray almost lost control of the match in the fourth game.

He had a 30-0 advantage, but two consecutive double faults tied the game up at 30-30. Murray bounced back winning consecutive points taking the 3-1 lead.

Almagro once again experienced tightnest in his shoulder as he sent a ball right to the night in the fifth game. Murray then had a small miscue at the net. He eventually closed out the game and took the 4-1 set lead.

Murray took the next two games to advance into the semis. He now sits back and waits for an opponent.
