Michael Phelp continues to etch his name in history as the greatest Olympian ever. On Thursday, he won a second gold medal after finishing first in the Men's 200m Individual Medley.
Rebecca Soni stole the show in Day 6 of swimming events at the 2012 London Olympics as she broke her own 2008 Beijing world record in the Women's 200m Individual Medley. She came in first at 2:19.59. bettering her record by .41 seconds.
The Men's 50m set the precendent for the excitement to follow in the other competitions.
Cesar Cielo of Brazil and American swimmer Cullen Jones arrived at the same time in the semifinals of the event.
Americans Ryan Lochte and Tyler Clary were the favorites to win it all as the race was hitting its final leg. Clary pulled ahead of Lochte and so did Ryusuke Irie of Japan. Clary finished with an Olympic Record after swimming a 1:53.41. Lochte settled for bronze.
Ranomi Kromowidjojo took the gold in the Women's 100m Freestyle.
