The NCAA Football Bowl schedule for the 2014 season has the College Playoff Semifinal games on January 1, 2015 and the matchups will be on TV from the ESPN channel as the Florida State Seminoles and Oregon Ducks face off ahead of the Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Alabama comes in as the number one team in the nation and they will be matching up with Ohio State. OSU got in over Baylor and TCU after they killed Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game, while Alabama won over Missouri in the SEC. Florida State is undefeated and is in as the number three team, while Oregon is in after winning the Pac-12 this year.
The Ducks are one of the highest scoring teams in the nation, while Florida State comes in with an undefeated record. The team has not lost since before last year and now it will be up to this year's Heisman winner Marcus Mariota to try and knock off last year's winner, Jameis Winston. Mariota is expected to be picked ahead of Winston in the upcoming draft and the team comes in ranked third in the nation in points scored. Oregon is also 29th in points against and they are in the top 25 in passing and rushing yards per game.
The Ducks went 12-1 this season and saw Mariota throw for nearly 3800 yards with 38 TDs and just two picks, while FSU went 13-0 and won the ACC. The team ranked 14th in the nation in passing yards, 29th in scoring and 30th in points against and they won all four of their matchups against top 25 teams. Winston did not have as good of a season as last year, but he is one of the top prospects expected to come out for the draft.
Alabama is considered to be the best team in the nation and they come in at 12-1 on the season after going 5-1 against the top 25. The team is ranked fourth in points against and 17th in scoring on offense and they have not lost since falling to Ole Miss in October. Amari Cooper had an amazing season with over 110 catches for 1656 yards and 14 touchdowns, while Blake Sims took over the starting quarterback job from AJ McCarron and passed for 3250 yards and 26 touchdowns.
